Our sweet dog Puf, has been missing since 5/21/08. He is a mostly cream colored, male, smallish dog, not fixed, only one testy descended. Recently trimmed, so no good pictures. The hair is short all over his body, a little longer on the face and ears. His tail is still fluffy. Has floppy ears. Just had bath before disappearing, no collar. Puf please come home, we are broken hearted with out you!

Today, I have a special surprise for you!  In honor of Father’s Day, which is fast approaching, One Scrappy Mom has given me permission to share a FREE Quick Page with you!  I made today’s layouts (and your QP) with One Scrappy Mom’s “Dirty Dude”. A kit made for boys, that I find also works well with outdoor photos.  I am always on the lookout for versatile “outdoorsy” kits and Dirty Dude is very versatile!

These photos are of my youngest son’s first time mowing the lawn :)

And last but not least HERE is your free 12×12 QP.

Thanks One Scrappy Mom, for allowing me to share :)

Journaling:

I have been trying to get *** to go to The Melting Pot for awhile. But he was not too impressed with the idea of a Fondue restaurant. When my daycare parents gave me a $50 gift certificate it provided the perfect excuse to go. We had the Big Night Out, which included a cheese fondue, followed by a tropical salad and an entrée with two kinds of steak, fish, shrimp, chicken, and vegetables. We ended the night with two different chocolate fondues. Everything was delicious and we all had a wonderful time.  *** having recently got her license drove us all home.  Within moments of arriving at the house a storm rolled in. We opened presents, *** and **** gave me cloths, ***** picked out a couple hats and ***** choose a bedside lamp from World Market.  Just after opening the presents, ***’s friend **** called and said a tornado had passed right by her house. The phone kept ringing with different friends reporting the most recent tornado sightings. We took cover with the dogs and cat in our pantry while we listened to the radio and waited for the storm to pass by. The next day we were happy to hear that while there was allot of damage in the area it did not affect anyone we know. At school, all the kids were tired from staying up waiting for the storm to pass and shared stories of hiding in closets, etc.

Hi Everyone!

After seeing six different doctors with no results, I have started seeing an acupuncturist and it has helped a lot. My pain is gone, I still have a little tingling, but it is not too bad.

About today’s layouts. every year our Adventure Guides Tribe holds a Valentine’s dance. This year just my husband and youngest daughter attended. She felt just like a little princess.  These photos were taken before the dance.

I made these layouts with “Beauty Naturally” by LB Creations.  This beautiful kit is currently on sale for 50% off and is the Quick Page exchange kit at Divine Digital for the month of May. Join the exchange and collect all the quick pages! Font is Freebooter Script.

This first layout was made with the template from Babette’s Monthly Template Challenge and is the one I entered in the QP Exchange.

The second layout was made with Hetty’s weekly Sketchabilities template 18.

So Sad

Hello everyone,

I am sad to say that it looks like what ever is going on with my neck/shoulder/arm/hand does not appear to be something that is going to clear itself up soon. After visiting with my fifth doctor, an orthopedic surgeon and having the epidural cortisone injection in my neck on 2/21. I experience brief pain relief. But evidentially that was due to the anesthetic they used to numb me for the procedure, not the cortisone. So within 48 hours I was back to square one. I have leaned at least that if I do as little as possible, I can keep the pain at bay for the most part. That is very hard with 4 children, another 4 in my day care and me being the kind of person who usually has a bunch of things going at once. It has been an adjustment for everyone. I will be visiting with a Nero Surgeon next week. I want to try to get in with an acupuncturist before allowing the NS to do anything too drastic though. (If I can talk DH in to letting me “splurge” since this is not covered by insurance and money is TIGHT and we have spent soooo much on this already)

Any way, it looks like I am going to be out for awhile and I can’t even begin to guess how long that will be. I will try to stop by now and then but it hurts to work on the computer for more than a few minutes at a time and I think my motherboard is about to die anyway. Got to get my computer in the shop ASAP. (Sigh, if is not one thing it is another.)

It is with a sad heart that I find it necessary to step down from serving on my creative teams for the momen and put a hold on my QP and template design as well.

Still Hurting

Well, I guess I pushed myself too hard yesterday because now my neck is hurting again and my arm is even worse. I got to working on the post below and Trash to Treasure Hunting at DST and just could not stop. If you’ve got the time, there are a lot of great designers participating and I do believe this is the biggest treasure hunt I have seen at a scrapbooking site. I am really bummed about not being able to work much on the computer for over 3 weeks now. (Or do much of anything really) I was in the middle of working on another QP kit for sale at Candy Tree and planned to add a template kit too. I was also just about to start designing QPs for another site and I have some great birthday and valentine pictures of my daughter that I just can’t wait to scrap. They don’t call me Creatively Obsessed for nothing! LOL Darn pain, I wish it would just get better already. Off to take more pain killers, and sit in front of the TV I guess. I have watched more TV over the last three weeks than I have in the last year.

Stop Digital Piracy!

I recently learned that someone I have been involved with made a mistake that appears to be all too common among new digital scrappers. Over a period of a couple weeks last year, she shared a few files she should not have. They were not her designs. This person has expressed regret for her actions and did what she could to compensate for her mistake and do right by the original designers.

In light of these events, it seemed like a good time to express my support for Digital Scrapbook Designers and do what I can to spread the anti-piracy word.

Digital Scrapbook Designers work hard on their creations; they put a lot of themselves into their work. Please do not share files that are not your original from scratch or from commercial use creations (unless you have the designer’s permission). Remember to always give the designer(s) credit when you post in galleries, on your blog, in emails, etc.

With all that said, I should add that the majority of Digital Piracy is not committed by newbie’s who have not yet learned better. But by experienced scrappers who think they are not hurting anyone by sharing files. Digital file sharing is not the victimless crime many seem to think it is. (Just as shoplifting is not a victimless crime.) Digital Scrapbook Designers have many business expenses that these people don’t seem to realize. Let’s think about that for a moment…

1)  Digital Design Software can cost hundreds of dollars

2)  Up to date computers with large amounts of memory are needed

3)  Backup software and hardware are a must

4)  Many designers need additional hard drives

5)  The cost of running a website and blog must be considered

6)  Designers pay a fee to the stores that sell their products

7)  If they have their own stores, designers pay site fees, shopping cart fees, etc

8)  They also have to pay FTP fees so they can upload products to stores

9)  There are advertising fees

10) Not to mention the time involved in making these creations. One “simple” kit can take days to create.

Please remember this if you are tempted to share a file. If you see something that you know a friend would love, send them the store link or a link to the designer’s blog instead. Better yet, send them a gift certificate! Who does not love being the recipient of a RAK?

I have known a number of Digital Designers who have stopped designing because of Digital Piracy. It is a shame that the Digital Scrapbooking Community has had to loose out on their talents. I would hate to see other gifted designers give up for the same reasons. Please do your best to show your appreciation and support to these designers who are kind enough to share their creativity with us.

Thanks to Jessie for making the great blinkie you see above! Want one for yourself? You can get it here.

Another update

Thanks everyone, for your supportive emails. I visited with my fifth doctor Wednesday, an orthopedic surgeon. He took another look at my MRI and noticed a number of bulging disks. He feels that although you can not see it in the MRI, one of those disks is pinching a nerve and that is the cause of my extreme pain/numbness/tingling. He has decided the first course of action would be to treat this as a pinched nerve. I went back yesterday and he gave me a Cervical Epidural Cortisone injection that should take effect in a couple days to two weeks. I am happy to say that I am already able to turn and tilt my head back with out as much pain, hopefully in a couple days the improvement will spread to my arm and hand as well and I will be able to start Physical Therapy.

Update on me

Hi everyone.

Sure wish I could spend more time here but I am still having problems with my shoulder/arm/neck/hand. It is painful to type or even sit here at my computer.I have been to 4 doctors; every one of them has a different opinion as to what is causing this. I had an MRI but it did not show anything. The last Dr I went to thinks the problem is lower in my back and they did not go low enough when they did the MRI. He is referring me to an orthopedic surgeon, I am just waiting for them to get back to me and let me know when I can get in. I did go to a massage therapist that specializes in acupuncture pressure points; thanks to him I can almost straighten my head.

Going stir crazy around here but it looks like I will be out for the rest of February at least.  I really hate this because I was just getting my quick page business going and now I can’t even work on that. Pretty much living on pain killers. They don’t relieve the pain completely, but at least they make it somewhat bearable so I can get though the day with my 4 daycare kids and then last long enough to get dinner on the table for my family most days.

Taking it as easy as I can, which is really hard for me as I am the kind of person that usually has a bunch of things going at once.

Hope all is well with you.
